Last night a group of people got together and folded origami cranes and other things and I found myself folding a turtle late into the evening long after the group went home. It was a challenge trying to interpret the diagram because most of the steps were hard to follow even for this experienced folder, but I found it very therapeutic to work with the paper and fold each step not knowing what the next step was.
As I proceeded deeper into the folding steps, I still couldn’t visualize the final object but I continued to fold, believing that it would turn out all right in the end no matter how the final object looked. I was enjoying the process and I felt peace and the pleasant passing of time as I focused on each line and direction to fold. In life and in origami it’s all about the journey but it’s wonderful to stop and enjoy the steps along the way.
