Yesterday as I sat quietly on side of Oak Creek listening to the sounds of nature looking for something to paint, I spotted an elderly gentleman wearing blue wading deep into the creek yielding a bright yellow fishing pole, a perfect subject for my journal sketch. After an hour or so of fishing he walked over to say hello and I showed him the sketch. After telling me how much he loved it, we started a delightful conversation. I learned he was an artist as well as a skilled fisherman and he was a long time resident of the area I live in. He shared some great stories and we discovered we know some of the same people in the art world. It was a wonderful day yesterday. Not only did I make some art, I found a new friend. For me, art has made this world a bit smaller and a whole lot better.
