
Karen Thomas started life as Karen Elaine Scott in Southern California where she studied fine art and theater in high school and college. For several years, she has been the Creative Director for Yasutomo and Company, an art supply company based out of San Francisco. She has been a frequent guest on Home and Garden television's Carol Duvall Show, TVWeekly, and the DIY Network where she combined her experience as a fine artist with her passion for paper to create unique and distinctive techniques with a more traditional craft. She is the author of several books created for Yasutomo entitled Mingei Japanese Folk Art and Mizuhiki Magic Jewelry, Knots and Greeting Cards. She has also contributed to several Design Originals books such as Washi Paper Crafts, Paper Artistry and More Money Folding. Her artwork has been featured in numerous trade and consumer publications such as American Artist, Rubber Stamper, and Paper Crafts Magazine. Her most recent book is "Origami Card Craft, 30 Clever Cards and Envelopes to Fold" published by Random House/Potter Craft, released in March of 2009.
